ADOPT LADY!

Lady met her new mama and went to her new home yesterday! I swear she was smiling from ear to ear. It is exactly the situation that I had hoped for-a generous and compassionate person who is committed to restoring comfort and stability to her life. I am so happy for Lady, And so happy too ti know that there are good people in this world.

Lady will be going to her new home on Monday night-Weather permitting! I am enjoying every moment with her, So I took her out and about with me to run errands this morning. She loves riding in a car and was a perfect angel! She met some new friends and really seemed to enjoy herself. I'm going to miss this girl!

Lady attended our Halloween adoption event at the Working Dog Supply store in North Smithfield- a lovely store with owners that are great friends of rescue. I learned that Lady is not wild about wearing clothes! She was a good sport in the spirit of the event but was so happy to get her silly shirt off. I also learned that she gets tired after a long afternoon of being social, and has slept soundly since dinner. She was a very good girl! It's so nice to have a foster that I can take any where and trust around anyone....she's so well mannered.
I love this girl. She's such good company. She gets along just fine with my dogs, but really isn't much of a player- she watches mine wrestle and tumble around and gives them a look that says "You guys can get all worked up- I'd rather rest!" And I don't think that she was ever allowed on furniture, because she won't stay on a couch very long and has no interest in sleeping in my bed. A bed on the floor is just fine, but being on furniture seems to make her nervous. That's not something I'm going to work on either, because not everyone wants a dog on furniture.
She has lost her anxiety here, and seems very content. Sweet Lady.

Lady has settled in quite nicely! What a sweet, sweet girl. I was told that she was a finicky eater but I have to say that I haven't found that to be true- she's eaten full bowls of food at each meal, has found the most comfortable bed in the house, and already goes right to the door when she needs to go out! She dis squawk a bit in her crate last night, but did quiet down and sleep through the night. I don't think she likes to be crated but is not at all destructive. She is my favorite kind of foster- she watches my dogs and just goes with the flow, letting them show her the routine of the house!
And she is really pretty in person- much more so than her pictures. Her fur is so soft, a lovely deep gray with a spot of white on her chest and chin. Her legs are so long! I love to watch her romp around the yard, and I've seen a frisky, playful side to her that makes me smile. ADPOT LADY! Meet Lady, who lives up to her name in every sense of the word. This sweet, gentle girl was the beloved pet of an elderly woman in MO- when her owner passed away, she was surrendered to rescue- a stressful and difficult change for a 9-10 YO girl! To make matters worse, she was found to have a tumor in her mouth, which was removed but may recur. She came to me today as a foster, and I can tell you that she is nervous! Pacing and exploring the house, and getting used to her new surroundings. She did eat a small meal, has spent time outside, and is getting along just beautifully with my dogs. I suspect that once she feels ore comfortable here she will blossom into a really wonderful com anion. Stay tuned for more about Lady, as I get to know her.
